Our approach

Starting secondary school is an important step. Very often, students change school and are confronted with new teaching methods. They go from having a single teacher for all their classes to learning from different, and more demanding, teachers for every subject. They discover that mathematics is taught completely differently from Dutch or science courses.

Secondary school students often run into difficulties when faced with these new challenges, for they need to know how to study, pay attention in class, motivate themselves, and understand subjects whose complexity increases daily.

That’s why, as a starting point, My Sherpa’s Pedagogical Advisors will analyse the needs of a student who is having trouble (general difficulties, lack of interest in school, knowledge gaps in maths, lack of preparation for a juried exam…). Then they will set up a tailored programme of private lessons, so that a My Sherpa coach with his or her experience, teaching method and knowledge, can effectively help the student at home.

Through these private lessons, the My Sherpa coaches remotivate students, explain the most difficult aspects of their school subjects, and teach them an appropriate study method. They rebuild self-confidence such that the students are able to pursue their studies on their own.
