Preparation for remedial exams
A key factor in success at remedial exams is thorough preparation beforehand. The best of pupils can become unnerved and “lose it” during exams. The summer holidays offer a lengthy period during which students are left to themselves. Preparing to pass a remedial exam is a long distance race best started then.
That’s why the Pedagogical Advisors set up a programme of private lessons tailored to the specific needs of the student. The Pedagogical Advisors plan in view of the availability of the student, the subject matter of the remedial exam, and the gaps in his or her understanding in order to make the best use of the time available during the summer holidays.
To prepare remedial exams, via private lessons a My Sherpa coach analyses the student’s knowledge of problematic subjects and helps the student to plan his or her study. Then, step by step, the coach fills in the student’s knowledge gaps, even if they go back several years. In mathematics, for example, mastering the basics is prerequisite to understanding more difficult topics. The coach explains lessons from school to the student and reinforces new knowledge with practical exercises and tests; this is the best preparation for remedial exams.
Through private lessons on how to prepare for remedial exams, the student is guided, prepared, and motivated to pass the year.
